JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is located in Fremont, OH and will report out of the AMP Fremont Energy Center

Position Title: Assistant Vice President of Fossil & Peaking Assets

Reports To: Vice President of Generation Operations & Development

FLSA Status: Exempt

Basic Functions: Responsible for day-to-day management and long-term operations at the AMP Fremont Energy Center (AFEC) Natural Gas Combined Cycle Facility.

Essential Functions:

  1. Oversees and manages contracted services for operation and maintenance of the AFEC facility.

  2. Coordinates and manages Long Term Service Agreement for maintenance of the gas turbine generators and steam turbine generator.

  3. Coordinates with AMP’s Energy Control Center to ensure generating unit operation is in accordance with generation schedules and PJM dispatch requests.

  4. Oversees with the preparation of annual AFEC operating budget and budget revision requests as necessary; maintains a ten-year budget for operations, and maintenance. Monitors actual expenditures and tracks against budget.

  5. Develops and manages a 10-year capital improvement plan and major maintenance plan to ensure safe, reliable and efficient long-term operation.

  6. Assures that facility is operated in accordance with safety procedures and in compliance withall applicable regulations..

  7. Coordinates with City of Fremont regarding Water and Wastewater Services.

  8. Prepares and provides routine updates to the AMP Board of Trustees and Executive Management Team.

Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications:

  1. Four-year engineering related degree - and ten (10) years power generation experience is preferred. Other combinations of skills and experience may be accepted upon review and approval by AMP.

  2. Has a thorough knowledge of power plant equipment, maintenance practices, and principles of operation.

  3. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

  4. Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft software.

  5. Must be able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  6. Must demonstrate the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems with little supervision.

  7. Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude in a collaborative team environment.

  8. Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.

  9. Job requires a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.

  10. Job requires establishing and maintaining personally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks.
