UL, LLC Product Manager - Batteries and ESS Storage in Fremont, California

The Product Manager for Batteries & ESS Storage area supports the intersection of three main components of a successful Product Strategy: defining and owning the product direction; building and growing a product team; and establishing the product organization and processes.

  • This is a Hybrid position requiring 3 days/week in a UL Solutions office.

  • Ideal candidate will reside on the West Coast

  • Help establish and support the product vision for the Batteries & ESS Storage and Industrial e-Mobility segments, in concert with deep market understanding, to inform the core and new product strategy.

  • Develop services that align with our segment’s growth strategies

  • Support and contribute to the go-to-market strategy for Batteries & ESS as well as Industrial e-Mobility products, describing how value will be delivered to the customer/user, how UL’s products are differentiated from the competition, and what the business model should be in a given market. This includes prioritization of product functions and features into a product roadmap.

  • Monitor a set of product goals, outcomes and corresponding metrics to continually evaluate against and drive future activities and strategies.

  • Evangelize and communicate the product vision, strategy and goals internally and externally is a critical responsibility of this role.

  • Actively model and promote a set of desired behaviors aligned with UL’s critical behaviors for success.

  • Support an efficient cross-functional matrix structure to enable effective product development lifecycle management

  • Execute a robust set of processes to power all parts of the product development lifecycle from research/discovery to release/launch management and product support

  • Leverage a standard set of product management tools with the product team to drive efficient and effective product lifecycle management

  • Total Rewards: The salary range for this position is $130,000. - $160,000. and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.

  • All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation. The target for this position is 20% of the base salary offered. Employees are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental & financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country, for the relevant position level.

  • We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).

  • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor's degree) in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.

  • 5+ years of technical or business experience in Batteries & ESS or a related industry field.

  • 5+ years of related discipline experience or demonstrated competency in Product Management.

  • Battery Modeling experience is highly valued.

  • Working with remote teams is of high importance.

  • Ability to lead small to medium groups of internal and external stakeholders towards desired outcomes in order to meet business objectives.

  • Strong communication and presentation (PowerPoint) skills. Ability to conduct discovery sessions with clients, prospects and stakeholders.

  • Experience using Product management tools

  • Project management certification and formal training and/or certification in Product Management are plusses
