Robert Half Cost Accounting Manager in Fremont, California

Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Cost & Inventory Manager in Fremont, California. The chosen candidate will play a critical role in supporting inventory costing methods and labor allocation, ensuring compliance with GAAP. The role also involves collaboration with manufacturing and supply chain organizations, providing clear and concise analyses of monthly actual costs of goods sold, and inventory results to senior management.

Responsibilities:

• Support the inventory costing method and labor overhead allocation for the company's first commercial product, ensuring compliance with GAAP.

• Manage and update cost management processes and use appropriate costing methodologies to recognize, determine, accumulate, and report costs of business activities.

• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Supply Chain organizations to develop processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting of inventory data.

• Support month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation, and analyses related to cost of goods sold, as well as inventory valuation, balances, adjustments, and reserves.

• Provide senior management with a clear and concise analysis of monthly actual COGS and inventory results, prepare periodic COGS forecasts/budgets, and develop robust monthly budget vs. actual variance reporting.

• Partner with Engineering and Supply Chain teams to ensure Bill of Material accuracy including knowledge of cost reduction impact on financials.

• Assist in planning and managing cycle count and annual physical inventories.

• Utilize skills in Cost Accounting, Cost Analysis, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), Bill of Materials (BOM), and MS Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. Requirements

• Proficient in Cost Accounting with a demonstrated understanding of cost structures and economic principles

• Proven experience in Cost Analysis, with the ability to analyze financial data and extract and define relevant information

• Comprehensive knowledge of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), with the ability to calculate and analyze it effectively

• Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOM) management and its impact on product cost

• Proficiency in MS Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, with the ability to leverage its features for effective cost and inventory management

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

• Professional certification such as Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is desirable

• Strong understanding of regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to cost and inventory management
