Responsibilities The incumbent in this position is responsible for the opening of a brand-new VCS operation located in the Fredericksburg, Virginia VA Health Care Center, opening in February 2025. Incumbent will establish all areas of canteen operations relating to retail, food, vending, sales, merchandising, accountability and all other miscellaneous services of the canteen. Incumbent is responsible for a full range of personnel management, administrative controls, reviews, & processes relative to canteen operations. e.g., POG's, RPOS, inventory controls, stock schedule, food safety, sanitation, promotional programs, etc. The incumbent is responsible for attaining financial goals & implementing program objectives as established by VCSCO and/or Region Director. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years of direct food/retail management experience. Prior experience with inventory management, supply cost and shrinkage controls, and P&L management experience. Proven track record of building sales, increasing profits, and staff development. Ability to assess business needs and problem-solve. Hands-on leadership with a strong focus on service and hospitality. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with POS Systems. ServSafe certification required or obtained within 90 days of hire date. Education Associate degree preferred, but not required, in Business, Hospitality or Management.
