Job Title: Electrician Technician
Job Description
An Electrician installs basic electrical equipment and systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. This role involves assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with electrical equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
Responsibilities
Running rigid (1.5 inch) pipe down to gear box.
Wiring 3 way switches.
Assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with electrical equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
Installing and mounting electronic controls, devices, panels, sensors, and components.
Performing interlock wiring as required.
Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices.
Inspecting installation sites and studying work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Directing and training workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
Reading contract drawings.
Working with electrical distribution systems and wiring up to 480V.
Installing conduit, wireways, pulling wiring/cables, and terminating cables.
Reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and control wiring diagrams.
Essential Skills
Experience working with electrical distribution systems and wiring up to 480V.
Ability to install conduit, wireways, pull wiring/cables, and terminate cables.
Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and control wiring diagrams.
Experience bending and installing rigid 1.5 inch pipe.
Experience wiring.
Journeyman or Master level with at least 4 years of experience (card not required).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 3rd or 4th year apprentice electrician (do not need to be in an apprenticeship program, can be in an electrical helper role for the past 3 or 4 years).

For Electrician roles, if someone goes permanent, they will have the opportunity to enroll in an apprentice program. The cost of the program will initially be paid out of pocket by the employee (deducted from their weekly paycheck). After 4 years, when they receive their Journeyman card and successfully complete the program, the cost of schooling will be reimbursed. There is also an opportunity to go into the field once permanent and receive per diem on projects/travel. Electricians will work at the same manufacturing facility every day with minimal weekends required, providing a nice change from the construction life. Additionally, there is significant growth expected this year with the construction of a new building onsite, offering ample growth opportunities as promotion from within is highly valued.
Work Environment
The work environment is a manufacturing setting. Personal protective equipment (PPE) required includes a hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety vest, and safety glasses. All PPE except steel-toed boots is provided. The shift is Monday to Thursday from 5:30 am to 4 pm, and Friday from 5:30 am to 1:30 pm, currently working four 10-hour days and one 8-hour day, providing plenty of room for overtime. The facility is a nice manufacturing environment.
