Job Title: Facilities / Equipment Technician

Job Description

The Facilities / Equipment Technician is responsible for preventive maintenance and limited evaluation of repository refrigeration equipment, including changing alarm batteries, cleaning air filters, and performing inspections. The role involves reviewing equipment failures, performing repairs, conducting performance qualifications, and maintaining accurate documentation. The technician will also handle plumbing and electrical repairs, lighting maintenance, and participate in the Equipment Validation Program.

Responsibilities

  • Change alarm batteries on mechanical freezers as appropriate

  • Clean all air filters and compressor compartments to ensure they are free of dust and debris

  • Perform all inspections of refrigeration equipment, including a 15-point inspection of critical systems

  • Perform performance qualifications of all refrigeration equipment

  • Review equipment failures and evaluate potential causes with little supervision

  • Repair all problems as capable

  • Perform weekly inspections of emergency generators

  • Install and maintain low voltage wiring for the Central Monitoring System

  • Maintain accurate documentation utilizing Faciliworks Software to track all repairs on all equipment

  • Participate in the Equipment Validation Program

  • Validate all refrigeration equipment according to established protocols

  • Perform validations on shipping containers as required

  • Maintain documentation of all validations following Quality Guidelines

  • Perform unique validations on laboratory equipment as requested

  • Perform plumbing and electrical repairs

  • Handle lighting maintenance and painting as required

  • Respond to equipment failures as directed during and after regular business hours

  • Participate in Facilities Group On-Call rotation

  • Report to designated location within 60 minutes of notification in the event of an emergency when on call

  • Remain current on emerging electronic, refrigeration, monitoring system, and laboratory equipment technologies

  • Carry out other duties/projects as assigned

Essential Skills

  • Experience with 24V electric motors and wiring

  • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical maintenance

  • Knowledge of HVAC, pneumatics, calibration, metrology, and biomedical equipment repair

  • Troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills

  • Ability to install low voltage electrical wiring

  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record

  • Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending the English language

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 1-3 years’ related experience in mechanical or maintenance

Work Environment

The work environment includes working with bio/pharma equipment. This role may require working during and after regular business hours, participating in an on-call rotation, and responding to emergencies promptly. Safety and adherence to quality guidelines are paramount.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00
