Summarized Purpose:
The Director/Senior Director of Patient Preference (PP) role is developed to provide leadership to the Evidera Patient Preference team located in the Patient-Centered Research practice area.
Using the range of relevant stated preference methods, including but not limited to Discrete Choice Experiment, Best-Worst Scaling, Thresholding and rating methods such as Swing Weighting, the team supports the integration of patient preference into decision making across the product life-cycle, from early phase (e.g., trial design, regulatory, HTA) to post launch (value communication and shared decision making).
The role includes oversight of the development and commercialization of Evidera’s PP offerings including: managing and directing the team including staff resourcing, recruitment, setting of financial and other targets and professional development activities; driving business strategy focusing on innovation, operational efficiency and expansion; and serving as a senior leadership point of contact for clients/customers.
This role supports the mission of PCR to provide a full suite of services and offerings in the science of Patient Centered Research to facilitate integration of research-based findings into pharmaceutical and bio-technology usage throughout all phases of drug development for the betterment of the patient experience.
Essential Functions and Other Job Information:
Lead PCR PP business developing a business strategy and vision of growth that includes expansion of existing services, identification of new markets and development of new services and products
Oversight responsibility for executing the PP business plan in conjunction with external (BD, Marketing) and internal stakeholders including the VP, PCR
Coordinate response to client RFPs, including managing existing PP resources as well as identification of additional resource needs (i.e. recruitment oversight).
Manages staff including interviewing and selection, job description preparation, professional development, goal setting, performance management and any other tasks associated with staff functions and management
Collaborate with other Evidera scientists and management to ensure the scientific and operational capacity is in place to deliver a wide range of PP services
Works in cross functional teams across Evidera business units as warranted
Work with patient preference scientific staff to identify and achieve key scientific goals for the team, including planning and co-ordinating the team’s external scientific presence, such as conference attendance and methodological publications; increase external visibility of Evidera as an industry leader in PP through thought leadership and other business development activities
Provides scientific leadership to the PP team and leads PP projects
Design and implement a plan to ensure that PCR has the appropriate staff numbers, skills, experience and processes to efficiently deliver high quality patient preference projects. Specifically, identifying needs in the following areas, and developing and implementing responses to these needs:
Training, including scientific brown bag series and more formal training
Coordinating and moderating scientific seminars presented by patient preference team members
Identifying training needs within the team and implementing plans to address these needs through internally or externally developed training programs
Identifies scientific methods/plans that help clients meet their goals; able to identify and propose risk mitigation plans, oversees business escalation as necessary
Presents scientific work in peer-reviewed journals and at professional meetings
Demonstrated knowledge of GCP and awareness of working in a regulatory environment
Develops and maintains client relationships
Provides scientifically rigorous deliverables that best help clients meeting their objectives
Education, Professional Skills & Experience:
PhD in the field with quantitative underpinnings (preferably econometrics), with at least 10 years’ relevant consulting and patient preference experience, or a Masters degree and a minimum of 12 years in the field. At least 3 years of management experience.
Deep and demonstrated understanding of patient preference research.
Proven ability to drive innovation and lead, develop and/or implement team wide talent strategies including ensuring the proper resources are allocated based on individual skills and abilities.
Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively
Extensive experience in consulting; ability to understand the needs of clients and to align proposals and project work accordingly
Advanced understanding of budgeting and forecasting with the ability to interpret data with attention to detail
Develops and is responsible of budgets, schedules and performance standards; identify resourcing needs and responds accordingly.
Tact and sensitivity in matters relating to confidential material; fluency in written and oral English
Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and staff management skills and experience required
Ability to communicate complex information and ideas so that others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups both internally and externally
Compensation and Benefits
The salary pay range estimated for this position Scientific Affairs Medical Director based inMaryland is $175,000.00–$210,000.00.
