Aero Snow Removal (Dejana Industries) Salt Driver in Franklin Park, Illinois
Salt Driver Overview:
The Salt Truck Driver performs tasks that involve final removal of all hazardous conditions on parking surfaces due to snow and ice
Salt Driver Responsibilities:
Use appropriate plowing and salting techniques based on current ground conditions, including specified application rate (will provide initial instruction and guidance where needed)
Manage and report amount of chemicals used/applied
Accurately report # of times different sites are serviced, including start and stop times for each site
Complete Dispatch invoices
Ensure safe and accident-free operation of salt trucks in congested and icy parking lots, and on public roads
Performs pre- and post-trip inspection on vehicle
Reports breakdowns to maintenance personnel and manager
Accurately and promptly follow directions from manager
Supervise seasonal drivers in their application of snow management chemicals, and be able to assess snow/ice conditions in various areas to determine service needed
Efficiently navigate to various areas on the airfield and to lots adjacent to the airfield in poor visibility and low traction conditions.
Assist in general labor tasks at the base and on the airfield as needed
Shuttle personnel, meals, parts, tools and materials on and off the airfield in support of airfield snow removal operations.
Salt Driver Requirements:
CDL Class B license with Air Brakes Certification
On-Call availability from October 15th to April 30th, Must be willing and able to work long hours, weekends and holidays
Ability to obtain airport security clearance
Required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, grasp, carry, push and pull
Must be able to lift and/or move 50+ lbs
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Need to have cell phone that can download application for clocking in and clocking out
