The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Frackville is seeking a Corrections Plant Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the operation of steam boilers, heating boilers, chilled water systems, cooling towers, and standby generators. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for repairing and performing routine and preventative maintenance on all equipment to ensure optimal functionality. You will clean and maintain central air compressors in both the plant and boiler room and monitor hot water and chilled water expansion tanks to ensure they are operating at the correct pressures. You will identify and address issues, correct any deficiencies noted by the boiler inspector, and test various types of water, including chilled, condenser, hot, and condensate water. Additionally, you will keep detailed logs of testing activities and manage inventory for water treatment chemicals, reagents, and other essential supplies. You will also supervise inmate workers assigned to janitorial and maintenance tasks within the plant and ensure a safe and secure working environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full benefits at age 50 or 55. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,753.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in performing skilled mechanical repair work involving heavy machines; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from high school; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
