Reference #: 4708877 THE POSITION The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Frackville is seeking a creative and highly motivated painter to join our team as a Corrections Painting Trade Instructor. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Painting Trade Instructor, you will have an important role in providing on-the-job training instruction to inmates in painting methods. You will be responsible for demonstrating and explaining various painting techniques, as well as teaching about the necessary materials and tools used in hanging wallpaper and vinyl wall coverings. Additionally, you will provide instruction on the proper coating, inspecting, and maintenance of walls, ceilings, floors, furniture, and fixtures. You will also be responsible for creating a safe and positive learning environment for inmates. This includes enforcing rules and regulations, monitoring behavior, and addressing any issues that may arise.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment (40-hour work week) Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of experience in mixing and applying paint, stain, and other finishes to a variety of building surfaces; or
Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the painting trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the painting trade.
Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet thePA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the linkand click on Residency. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
