Lockheed Martin Waste Treatment Operator in Fort Worth, Texas

Description: Perform the operation of the chemical waste treatment system, batch treatment system, chemical recycling system, chemical regeneration system, and the Ion Exchange System by following established procedures. Be able to determine at each stage if the system is operating properly and understand chemical reactions occurring in each of the systems.

Required to perform periodic cleaning and standardization of pH (hydrogen ion concentration) and ORP (oxidation-reduction potential) instruments and probes and operate pumps and mixers to make the Chemical Waste Treatment System operate properly. If chemical out of balance occurs, make visual and pH checks to diagnose and correct the problem.

Operate Ion Exchange System per standard operating instructions. Check regeneration or resins by measuring specific gravity with hydrometer. Check quality of rinse water with conductivity and/or pH meters.

Perform batch type neutralization of acids, deoxidizers, spent etchant and other chemical wastes in accordance with established procedures and personal knowledge of chemical reactions. Adds neutralizing chemicals to the "batch kill" tank. Use P.H. and O.R.P. meters to gauge degree of neutralization. Obtains samples for chemical analysis after treatment. Add coagulants to slurry to produce desired settling and dewatering characteristics; pump to sludge settling tanks and filter press. Operates filter press for dewatering. Operates clarifier for sludge removal from treated water. Handles and recovers oil/coolants for disposal.

Maintain records indicating test run, results and action taken. Resolve any problems with Materials and Process Control chemist or supervision.

Operates equipment and vehicles for purpose of transporting chemicals, hazardous waste materials and waste metal sludges within the reservation. Operates vacuum truck to service machinery and remove spills.

Perform emergency chemical spill response and spill cleanup activities as required.

Must be able to work any Shift.

Must be able to pass required annual physical.

Must be able to wear half and full-face respirator to perform job task.

Able to manually move 55-gallon drums on a frequent basis.

Basic Qualifications:

Must have 2 semesters of College Chemistry or 1 semester of college chemistry with industrial wastewater experience.

Experience with mixing and pouring chemicals.

Desired Skills:

Experience with Wastewater Operations.

Experience handling hazardous waste in accordance with applicable regulations.

Experience cleaning up chemical spills from 1 – 1000 gallons.

Maintenance experience.

40 Hour HazWoper Training.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week
