Oncor Electric Delivery Co. LLC Senior Manager, Distribution Planning in Fort Worth, Texas

Summary

This position is responsible to lead all Oncor distribution planning activities as necessary to ensure adequate load serving capacity to meet the current and future needs of Oncor’s distribution customers. Implements processes and controls to ensure legal, regulatory, code, safety and standards compliance.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Directly or through others, the incumbent:

  • Directs seasonal modeling and system analyses of Oncor load serving substations and distribution systems, and provides guidance for prudent investment decisions on the strategic expansion of these systems.

  • Directs the development of projects that provide for an optimized substation and distribution system capable of meeting all system facility capacity, safety, reliability and compliance requirements.

  • Directs the integration of econometric information, load profiles, and identified future developments with actual load data to produce multi-year substation bank demand forecasts and corresponding load serving substation expansion plans for use by transmission planning and substation engineering, and to meet any external requirements such as ERCOT’s Annual Load Data Report (ALDR).

  • Supports Oncor’s regulatory team in various activities at ERCOT and the Public Utility Commission, including but not limited to CCN applications, rate case filing, rulemaking, and policy development.

  • Directs the analysis of site-specific load additions (from general end use customers, electric cooperatives, economic development, etc.) to the distribution system, and preparation of conceptual design recommendations. Recommendations include directions for compliance with regulatory requirements for appropriate application of the line extension policy and compliance with tariffs and policies/procedures.

  • Continually drives improvements in the distribution planning process including adopting or creating tools that improve efficiency, ensure data accuracy and support distribution planning objectives.

  • Facilitates a high-performance team culture including hiring high-potential job candidates, providing mentoring to professionally develop team members, and demonstrating continuous improvement practices.

  • Serves on company, industry committees or technical working groups to provide technical and analytical expertise

  • Supports other duties as necessary.

Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering degree is required.

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas is preferred.

  • 7-10 years of experience in the planning, design, construction, operation, or maintenance of distribution facilities, or similar electric utility experience.

  • 5 years of technical management and supervisory experience.

  • In depth knowledge of company operations, policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated communication and team-building skills for effective interface with internal and external entities.

Measures of Success

  • Production of timely and quality expansion and improvement plans for load serving substations and site-specific load additions.

  • Timely delivery of quality planning information to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Compliance with NERC, ERCOT, TRE, PUCT and Oncor requirements.
