Corporate Safety Management Systems Manager

Bell headquarters in Fort Worth TX, is seeking a self-motivated aviation safety professional to lead the continued development, improvement, and execution of our worldwide Corporate Safety Management System (SMS). This position is the company focal point for the management of the SMS to include tools and oversight and has direct interaction with all facets of the business from supplier to fielded fleet issues and everything in between.

This position is directly involved with worldwide regulators and other aviation industry companies and working groups in the development of aerospace SMS standards and potential rule making activity. The ideal candidate will be able to step into a leadership role within the industry.

What you’ll be doing as a Corporate SMS Manager

  • Interact with the FAA, TCCA, EASA, DCMA and other government entities to ensure the continued regulatory acceptance of the Bell enterprise Corporate/Design & Manufacturing (D&M) SMS.

  • Mentor Bell leaders at our worldwide facilities in the development, implementation and execution of their SMS programs under the Corporate SMS structure and the continued growth of a positive safety culture.

  • Administrative oversight of the following software systems:

  • Premier (Safety Risk Management)

  • PRISM (Hazard Reporting)

  • Qualtrics (Surveys)

  • Bow-Tie Pro (Hazard Analysis)

  • Ownership of SMS Policies, Procedures and Processes; maintain, update, and create required SMS documentation.

  • Maintain, record, and provide effective training to the Bell workforce on SMS and the appropriate tools for reporting, evaluating, mitigating, and eliminating risk.

  • Actively manage hazards and risks:Monitor the Aircraft Hazard Reporting Tool and the Product Safety Board for identified issues, classify initial risk exposure within the SRM tool and work with the identified risk owners to develop mitigations and solutions.

  • Lead, monitor and participate in Just Culture reviews concerning product safety events. Participate in other Just Culture reviews as required.

  • Conduct annual safety culture surveys as required.

Qualifications

Skills You Bring To this Role (hiring manager/recruiter to pick 5-6)

  • Experience with an OEM or other large manufacturing organization.

  • Experience with Root Cause, Corrective Action processes.

  • Graduate/certificate holder from a recognized Safety Management System training provider or relevant industry experience.

  • Graduate/certificate holder from a recognized Professional Auditor training provider.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management experience.

  • Demonstrated Communication Skills needed to brief top-level management, customers and/or large groups on an occasional-to-frequent basis.

  • Demonstrated Risk and Data Analysis experience preferred.

What you need to be successful:

We are looking for inquisitive and driven engineers with a passion to innovate.

Bachelors Degree required and9 years of relevant experience.

BS in a technical or science discipline preferred. Relevant industry experience will be considered.

Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience
