Seasonal Program runs from August 25, 2024 to April 5, 2025

Job Summary and Qualifications
Our Registered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinical expertise and the highest quality care, in the most compassionate way. As a Medical Surgical Ortho RN in our unit, you can expect to provide healing to a variety of diagnoses to organize, modify, evaluate, document and maintain the plan of care for inpatients with a specialty focus on orthopedics. What You Will Do In This Role
You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, following standards of care and disease specific protocols.
You will plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
You will provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies.
You will provide education and emotional support appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance and incorporate patient / family teaching into all aspects of nursing practice.
What qualifications you will need:
Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing required.
Associate's degree required, bachelor's degree preferred or current enrollment in a Baccalaureate or Master's in Nursing Program
1 year acute care experience required.
Current RN license by the State of Texas or from a compact state if you declare the compact state your primary state of residence required
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
RN Specialty certification preferred
All Seasonal RN's are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.
Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.
Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.
During the course of the 32 weeks period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee)
Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.
Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy.
Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND, D2/ECD, and D3/EVD).
Registered Nurses who are int he Seasonal Program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.
Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2024-2025 with the exception of RN's that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year.
Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.
Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.
