  • Work hours: Full-time 40 Hours – Day Shift 8AM-5PM with flexibility to work nights and weekends when needed.

CLINICAL OPERATIONS:

Creates, updates, maintains, instructs and coaches staff in the daily clinical service procedures provided by the department.

Responsible for assuring correct, appropriate, safe and timely RT care is provided by employees.

Looks for creative methods to resolve problems and/or avoid issues.

Takes responsibility and proactively makes decisions in the best interest of the patient.

Identifies trends that need correction and takes the needed actions to make the improvements.

Collaborates with any/all disciplines necessary to improve a process or care.

Implements an ongoing process to measure, assess and improve business and service outcomes based on standards of care, patient safety concepts, industry research findings and applicable benchmarks.

Responsible for the monitoring, measurement of and analysis of indicator and/or results.

Incorporate benchmark guideposts for continual evaluation of alternative methods of conducting business operations and/or care delivery.

Develop and monitor and evaluate department Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) reflecting the relationship with System/Hospital KPI's.

Include department staff in shared KPI goal setting, strategy development and outcome analysis.

Assign responsibility as indicated for corrective action in order to implement measures to improve operations and outcomes.

Initiates required actions to improve results with immediate attention as deemed appropriate and urgent for patient, department and hospital needs.

Actively identifies problem performance areas to affect individual employee change through coaching, corrective actions or discipline or uses C.I. activities to improve system processes for team wide issues.

Effectively deals with employees not meeting department minimal standards of care.

HUMAN RESOURCES:

Development of qualifications for patient care providers and/or other staff as required.

Promote professional growth, development and accountability in staff.

Coach and mentor subordinate staff in order to improve their performance and expand responsibilities.

Develop and support shared decision making through the RT Council model in order to develop inter/interdepartmental teamwork, and team goal accomplishments.

Recognize and reward individual and team accomplishments.

Identify leadership talent and actively develop leadership skills for future opportunities.

Monitor and measure employee performance to department standards, using effective coaching, corrective actions and disciplinary action to adjust performance to department standards.

Leads employees towards achievement of department, hospital and system focus goals.

Identification of department wide systems, procedures or processes that need further education to staff.

Collaborates with other Supervisors and Dept Manager pro actively on events or employees that have trends in order to address from a larger perspective.

Develops a strong collaborative bond with their team's Team Leaders and Clinical Coordinator to plan, focus and approach the required goals each quarter.

FISCAL MANAGEMENT:

Understand the operating, capital and labor constraints for the department.

In collaboration with department leadership and staff, determine the appropriate number and level of staff, balancing competency with patient needs and/or department services required.

Evaluates and analyzes budget impacts and results, making suggestions for improvements.

Regularly communicate with staff and customer groups, as appropriate, regarding hospital/department goals, results and future direction.

Creation of new RT skills, job tasks or procedures based on any national studies or completion of our own.

Creation of clinical review / studies of department procedures processes for outcomes.

Training of staff in new / improved procedures, policies or clinical duties.

Accurate, timely and consistent documentation of training elements and results.

Close monitoring / review of RT utilization by orders for care as well as protocol application.

Regular systems approach to avoiding costs by increasing methods that survey reduce waste.

CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SATISFACTION:

Collaborate with all customer groups (patients, department/hospital staff, physicians and other internal/external customer groups, as appropriate for the department services) to understand and prioritize customer expectations. Incorporate customer expectations into functional activities of the department.

Actively engage customer groups to promote effective customer relationships and communication with prompt resolution of issues and concerns.

Evaluate customer satisfaction on a regular basis to determine gaps in actual results and expectations.

Incorporate findings in continuous improvement activities.

Hold accountable each employee to the same level of achievement as the supervisor is responsible for producing, taking effective coaching, corrective or disciplinary measures as needed.

STAFFING:

Responsible for supplying enough staff to their shift, their team and the patient area(s).

This includes the ability to make any staff changes, orientation changes, workload triages, re-assignment of schedules, adjustment of assignments or duties. etc.

Education

Associate's Degree Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Care Program Required

Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Experience

3 Years experience in Respiratory Therapy Required and

1 Year prior supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist Upon Hire Required And

RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner Upon Hire Required And

BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required And

NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program NICU therapists only Upon Hire Required

Skills

A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast paced environment. Good patient evaluation skills. The ability to read, write, and speak English with a high degree of understanding. The ability to hear and interpret breath sounds with a stethoscope. The ability to read computer terminals, ventilator settings, etc. while performing respiratory duties.
