We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold aircraft.

This position is onsite in Fort Worth, Texas.

Manager of Systems Engineering – Advanced Programs:

Bell’s Advanced Programs team is seeking a Manager of Systems Engineering (SE) to lead a team of systems engineers working on a variety of exciting technical development programs. You will oversee activities across the system lifecycle including CONOPS, requirements development, system architecture, and integration and test.

Bring your experience and ideas and help us to define the future of vertical lift flight . Along with your systems engineering leadership capabilities, you will work with directors, chief engineers, cross functional engineers, program managers, test pilots and supporting specialists to coordinate, communicate, plan and execute advanced development programs for Bell.

This position requires proactive coordination across disciplines (design, software development, and SE) and Bell suppliers.

The role involves the direct oversight and technical leadership of a cross-functional team of engineers, working to coordinate engineering efforts using model-based techniques and best practices.

Involvement is required in a variety of multi-disciplinary activities, including Architecture Definition, Design Specification, Requirements Management, Configuration and Data Management, Supplier Management, Business Operations, Contract Management, Reliability & Maintainability, Affordability, Safety, and Testing.

The position requires proactive coordination across disciplines, customers, and suppliers. Objectives also include driving the advancement of enterprise knowledge and capability within the field of Systems Engineering.

What you’ll be doing as a Manager of Systems Engineering – Advanced Programs

  • Manage and support a direct team of engineers across multiple disciplines.

  • Manage the definition, maintenance and change management of the MBSE model and requirements dataset, Systems Engineering documents and their subsystems.

  • Oversee of the definition and tracing of design requirements, test data, and performance values for development systems and their subsystems.

  • Perform trade studies and functional analyses associated with requirements and potential design solutions.

  • Ensure the delivery of Systems Engineering artifacts for all program milestones, along with participating in major program reviews e.g. Requirements Review.

  • Define and manage system and subsystem interfaces.

  • Review and provide input to the intent, and requirements of supplier specifications, SOWs, and qualification content.

  • Utilize the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) to monitor team performance to cost and schedule.

  • Support the program proposal process, including the development of cost estimates and work budgets.

Qualifications

Skills You Bring To this Role:

  • Experience with requirements, design specifications, subcontracts, and testing.

  • Understanding of the product life cycle and the ability to assess the appropriate timing for systems engineering activities. Background in aerospace and aircraft technologies is preferred.

  • Experience with functional analysis areas such as safety, reliability, and RIO (Risk, Issues, Opportunities) is preferred.

  • Experience with defining requirements verification processes and methods as well as participation in verification activities.

  • Experience architecting digital threads to connect MBSE and digital design tools. (e.g. Cameo and 3DX environment).

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science or other related Engineering degrees.Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience and are preferred.

  • At least 10 years of related experience in systems engineering with significant technical experience in SE and MBSE for product development applications, including artifact traceability for airworthiness and test.

  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills. Experience with Program Management is preferred

  • A combination of hard and soft skills is essential for success.
