We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell V-280 Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA), part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless, Bell’s Autonomous Pod Transport (APT), and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold tilt-rotor. This position is onsite in Fort Worth however, exceptions for alternate work arrangements may be considered.

Aircraft Software Certification (across multiple levels)

Bring your experience and ideas and help us develop, manage, and communicate the aircraft software certification methodology for a new military development program to internal and external customers through data reviews and Stage of Involvement (SOII) audits of both suppliers and internal software development teams.

Our team is at the forefront of emerging aircraft software technology qualification techniques including Model-Based-Development, Multi-Core-Processors, Integrated Modular Avionics, and more.Airworthiness/Certification personnel with strong software backgrounds, software engineers with certification exposure (especially DERs, DER Candidates, ODA Unit Members, and ODA Unit Member Candidates) should apply.

This role will be an integral part of the team, working closely with customers and subcontractors. You’ll be able to hone your technical abilities in these cutting edge technologies, all while gaining experience in leadership and communication.

What you’ll be doing as an Aircraft Software Certification Engineer:

  • Administer Software Certification/Qualification activities on assigned engineering design teams.Interface with the customer and teammates on software certification related issues.Monitor, investigate, and resolve issues relative to aircraft software certification.

  • Perform desktop reviews and Stage of Involvement (SOI) audits for assigned subsystem areas, such as flight controls, avionics, mission systems, electrical propulsion, fuel, ECS, and more.

  • Represent Bell with military/industry at Software & Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) Working Groups.

  • Provide guidance to Bell engineering teams and suppliers relative to airborne and ground-based Software/AEH Certification.

  • Review Bell and supplier submitted documents relative to Software/AEH Qualification standards including RTCA DO-178C, DO-254, DO-330, DO-331, DO-332, DO-333, DO-297, Army Military Airworthiness Certification Criteria (AMACC), and more.

  • Influence air vehicle design to improve system and software processes, qualification, re-useability, and safety.

Qualifications

Skills You Bring To this Role:

  • 5 years of experience with either military software Programs (MIL-STD-882 / AMACC) or civil System software Programs (RTCA DO-178, DO-254, etc).

  • Experience or Strong Familiarity with aircraft software certification industry standards (DO-178C and supplements, FAA AC 20-115D, DO-254, FAA AC 20-152A, etc.).

  • Previous Development and Verification Experience with either software (RTCA DO-178) or complex/programmable hardware (RTCA DO-254).Designation by FAA or ODA as a software DER or unit member or candidate is preferred.

  • Ability to prioritize work, strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a team player mindset.

  • Excellent communicator, must be able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, and brief leaders/customers.

What you need to be successful:

  • We are looking for inquisitive and driven engineers with a passion to innovate.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a Major in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.

  • Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience.

  • Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
