Community Health Systems Nursing Student - House Rotation PRN in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Schedule: PRN- Varied House and Shift- Flexible around school schedules

*December 2025 Nursing Graduates*

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of unit leadership and/or a clinical nurse, performs and assists with patient care part of the learning experience of becoming a nurse for a maximum of 12 hours per week.

MINIMAL ACCEPTABLE JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Licensure/Registration/Certification:

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse within 4 months from graduation

  • BCLS within 30 days of hire

  • SAMA Level 1 within 30 days of hire

  • Basic EKG- CLIN within 60 days of hire

  • Phlebotomy within 60 days of hire

*Nurse Resident’s should begin applying for RN positions during the 5 th rotation. Upon the completion of the last rotation, Nurse Resident must accept an RN position or a PCA position if available.

Education:

Students are typically in their final year of nursing school and within 1 year of graduation.

  • Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program in good standing and have

  • Successful completion of approved clinical nursing courses, i.e. Med/Surg I or equivalent and Pharmacology. Transcripts of classes must be provided along with HS Diploma.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

1) Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.

2) Demonstrates a basic knowledge and understanding of nursing practice, procedures, techniques,

equipment and applicable regulations.

3) Requires an understanding of basic EKG rhythms (per area of assignment).

4) Requires organizational skills and basic knowledge of office operations.

5) Requires a basic understanding of the related behaviors, needs and comfort appropriate to the age

(including neonate, child, adolescent, aging adult) and diagnosis of patient served in order to support

the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.

6) Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to establish and

maintain positive therapeutic/working relationships with all internal and external customers, as needed.
