Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Medical Coder in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In this role, you will be active in the healthcare sector, working closely with healthcare professionals and customers, ensuring the smooth processing of medical codes and maintaining compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Assign and sequence all codes for services rendered by accurately managing CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
• Review patient medical records from healthcare professionals to understand the patient’s health and the treatments received.
• Verify assigned codes and procedures to ensure they meet all federal, insurance, and company regulations and policies.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and other medical staff to clarify diagnoses or to get additional information.
• Help healthcare providers comply with coding regulations and procedures to avoid penalties or denials from insurance companies due to coding errors.
• Stay updated with ever-changing coding principles, procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Enter data into relevant databases and maintain accurate electronic health records.
• Resolve coding issues using problem-solving abilities to enhance the accuracy of the coding process.
• Conduct internal reviews of coding and billing information for accuracy before claim submission.
• Adhere to the strictest confidentiality protocols to protect sensitive patient information.
• Prepare necessary reports to ensure all coded data and related information are well-documented.
• Assist in processing insurance claims and work closely with billing teams, providing them with necessary coded data for claim submission. Requirements • Proficiency in 3M and 3M Coding is required
• Experience with Allscripts and Cerner Technologies is a must
• Should have a strong background in Auditing
• Knowledge of Billing Functions is necessary
• Previous experience in Medical Coding is essential
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to make sound judgment calls
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
• Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare regulations
• Certification in medical coding from an accredited institution is preferred.
