Parkview Health Director Safety in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Reporting to the Chief Quality and Safety Officer of Parkview Health System, the Director of Safety is the operational leader of the Parkview Health Department of Safety, and oversees activities of all safety personnel including hiring, training, onboarding, budget, and safety service provision for the health system. The Director develops, implements, and sustains comprehensive and strategic environment of care and workforce safety programs across all hospitals, hospital outpatient department facilities and non-clinical areas. The Director is accountable for assisting health system leaders in realizing the strategic aim of zero harm to our workforce in the delivery of care, and plans, directs and coordinates activities supporting those aims. Advises and coordinates with other enterprise leaders on system safety programs and makes recommendations for appropriate and effective safety policies, procedures, and programs. Directs and ensures regulatory compliance oversight with all accrediting organizations and agencies, including, but not limited to EPA, OSHA, Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Indiana Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and the National Fire Protection Association. Responsible for directing and coordinating all operational activities for hospital, behavioral health, and community mental health clinic safety coordinators. Closely collaborates with Director of Emergency Management and oversees cross-training and competency of every safety coordinator to support emergency preparedness and emergency management duties for each facility and Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) Vice President of Patient Care and PPG Director of Quality and Safety on safety training, life safety, and standard safety evaluation protocols in PPG clinics. Serves as the safety representative for the health system.
Bachelor's degree required in Environmental Health & Safety, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Occupational Health or related healthcare field. Masters degree preferred.
Must have Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) designation or obtain within 1 year of hire. Must have a valid driver's license.
Previous experience in healthcare safety with a minimum of 3 years experience in a healthcare leadership or other leadership role required.
