Community Health Systems Cytotechnologist Days in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of assigned lab management, performs professional and technical tasks such as staining, mounting and studying cells, examining specimens, executing a variety of tests and analyzing to confirm findings to report to the pathologist.
Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications
Education/Experience/Registration/Certification/Licensure: Bachelors Degree in biological science with one year internship plus successful completion of the American Society of Clinical Pathologist medical technology certificate examination or possess the necessary requirements to qualify as Clinical Laboratory Scientist under clinical Laboratory Improvement Act Standards (CLIA).
Job Knowledge & Skills:
Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
Demonstrates strong knowledge of histology testing and reporting procedures and related equipment necessary to perform a variety of analytical tests on patient fluid and tissue specimens.
Requires general working knowledge of the normal growth, development, related behaviors, needs, and comfort appropriate to the age (including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) and diagnosis of patients served to support the provision of an individualized multidisciplinary plan of care.
Requires strong analytical and organizational skills in order to conduct a variety of in-depth laboratory tests on patient specimens and maintain related documentation.
Requires an understanding of the role of the laboratory in providing excellent patient care. Understands the responsibility of the laboratory to provide accurate and timely information to assist in positive patient outcomes. Understands the importance of maintaining working relationships with other staff members in the laboratory and the hospital.
Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all internal andexternal unit customers, as needed.
