THE POSITION

Reporting Structure : The Controller reports to the VP – Financial Planning and Analysis

Role and Responsibilities :

The Controller is a strategic financial leader responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring alignment between departments, and providing data-driven insights to support decision-making. This role manages budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance, while also leading a team of financial analysts and preparing materials for executive leadership and the Board.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Financial Leadership : Ensure the integrity of financial data, including reviewing month-end closing activities, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L analysis

  • Strategic Planning : Lead the planning and forecasting process for operating companies and support budgets

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Drive cooperation across departments to achieve divisional goals and execute strategic initiatives

  • Executive Reporting : Present financial data to executive management and prepare board materials

  • Business Analytics : Provide relevant financial analysis to support historical, planned, and forecasted results, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements

  • Team Leadership : Supervise financial analysts, oversee performance management, and develop talent within the finance organization

  • Operational Metrics : Monitor key performance indicators and recommend strategies to improve efficiency and profitability

  • New Business Support : Assist in pricing analysis and financial evaluation of new business opportunities

  • Compliance & Governance : Ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting

  • 12+ years of financial leadership experience, including 7 years in management roles

  • Strong expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

Skills and Expertise :

  • Expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and P&L management

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights

  • Leadership experience in building and managing high-performing finance teams

  • Experience working cross-functionally to align financial strategy with business goals

  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, regulatory compliance, and risk management

Preferred Experience :

  • Financial leadership within the transportation industry

  • Experience presenting financial information to executive leadership and boards

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to drive strategic initiatives
