Plant Operator - Townsend Facility (Fort St. John).

The AltaGas Townsend Facility is seeking an experienced Plant Operator for our team! The Townsend facilities are located approximately 125 km northwest of Fort St. John, BC. The Townsend facilities are designed to process 550 MMSCFD of raw sweet gas. Taking day-to-day direction from the plant Lead Operator, this position is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Townsend facilities.

This is a camp-based position with a shift schedule of 10 days on, and 10 days off, rotating days and nights. Preference will be given to candidates who currently live in the Fort St. John area or are willing to relocate to the Fort St. John area for the position, though fly-in-fly-out is also available. Transportation is provided from Fort St. John to the facility.

What You'll Do:

  • Assists in the daily operation of the Townsend facilities, working the 12-hour day/night shift schedule.

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Townsend facility.

  • Assists in the safe and efficient operation of all scheduled and unscheduled work including operations, repairs, and maintenance.

  • Assists in commissioning, turnaround planning, and start-ups.

  • Adhere to all AltaGas policies, standards, operating procedures, and practices.

  • Ensure plant production and reliability.

  • Recognize and avoid inappropriate risks, consider the consequences and impact, and consult with senior personnel before taking action.

  • Report and investigate facility safety incidents.

  • Update and develop operating procedures.

  • Participate in critical job checklists, job hazard assessments, and safe work permitting.

  • Assists and participates in EH&S meetings & inspections.

What We're Looking For:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.

  • Completion of a Power Engineering program.

  • Minimum 4th Class Steam Ticket. Preference will be given to a candidate who holds a 3rd Class Steam Ticket.

  • Minimum 2-5 years of work experience in facility or pipeline operations.

  • Gas plant and power generation experience is considered an asset.

  • Ability to work in a camp-based plant environment with a 10-day on, 10-day off schedule.

The annual base salary for this role is between $84,000 to $122,000, depending on experience level. Plant Operators are also provided various allowances in addition to their base salary and are eligible to participate in all benefits programs from day one.
