U.S. Army North Security Specialist (Force Protection) in Fort Sam Houston, Texas

Summary About the Position: Performs as an action officer for the U.S. Army North, the Army Service Component Command which conducts Unified Land Operations in support of U.S. Northern Command, in order to detect, deter and defeat threats to the Homeland, conduct support of civil authorities, and security cooperation initiatives to defend the United States and its interests. Responsibilities Responsible for supporting overarching programs assigned, to include risk management, planning, training, exercises, resourcing, and program monitoring/maintenance. Synchronizes mission assurance through an integrated risk management methodology across U.S. Army North missions, policies, plans, and programs mitigating mission execution risk. Ensures that DoD is able to execute missions by preventing or mitigating the loss or degradation of DoD owned infrastructure within the U.S. Army North area of responsibility (AOR). Implements processes to identify, prioritize, assess, and manage risks, and participates in the mission assurance coordination board (MACB) structure, and identifies strategic risks that endanger execution of mission essential functions (MEFs). Publishes and updates command policies to synchronize and integrate DoD security, protection, and risk management programs and activities with the mission assurance construct. Maintains and reviews mission assurance related security, protection, and risk management data, and provides that data to U.S. Army North components. Implements the mission assurance process to identify, assess, manage, and monitor the risk to mission, systems, and assets that support mission execution. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes includes investigating and analyzing a variety of mission assurance-related problems, questions, or conditions associated with lines of work such as antiterrorism, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) survivability and preparedness, cybersecurity, emergency management, fire protection, force health protection, insider threat, law enforcement, physical security, or counter improvised explosive device (C-IED); conducting protection assessments such as physical security, antiterrorism, emergency management, special events and risk management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Risk Management Security Vulnerabilities Assessment and Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
