GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Sr Finance Manager is responsible for budgeting, forecasting and tracking actual expenses of freight expense with an annual budget of $550M. This position is also responsible for directing the programs that ensure proper internal reviews of financial related information. Responsibilities include cost tracking, performance to budget, reporting, and leading the monthly close, annual budget and five year planning processes. This position will interface with corporate and transportation business units including external partnership as needed. The Sr. Finance Manager position is designed to be a successor role to the Sr. Director, Supply Chain Finance, and is viewed as a key member of the DC Leadership team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Organize and review weekly/monthly forecasts of transportation expenses including key drivers of volume, destination variance, rate changes and in transit.
  • Oversee daily and weekly reporting related to transportation expenses. Handle exceptions and issues with reporting.
  • Drive the annual budget and five year planning process including freight expense, cube and in transit. Develop assumptions for freight expenditures and validate reasonableness of results.
  • Collect, assemble and organize data from various systems / databases in order to evaluate transportation operations.
  • Provide direction during the month close and quarterly close processes including reviewing variance analysis and exception reports and provide recommendations.
  • Lead and develop a team of Transportation Analysts that support financial related activities. This includes individual development, team progression and organizational improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

10+ years' experience in supply chain preferred.

Proven leadership abilities in a fast paced environment.

Experience in logistics, distribution and inventory/retail systems is desired.

Highly proficient communication skills, both oral and written.

Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.

Strong working knowledge of internal controls.

Ability to adapt efficiently to changing priorities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.

Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; travel or other inconveniences have advance notice; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.

Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.

Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
