Responsibilities Serves as Printing Services Specialist within the Office of Strategic Communication and Public Affairs Visual Information (VI) Branch. Provides comprehensive support to Branch Chief, overseeing every facet of physical media and print production, including file management, prepress, finishing, quality check, and delivery. Maintains and communicates current equipment status and inventory for production hardware and consumables. Proactively handles repairs, replacements, or acquisitions while complying with relevant laws and regulations. Performs prepress for large-format and production printing, maintaining technical and brand standards. Offers detailed feedback to in-field and out-of-field professionals on file technicality and brand compliance, ensuring top-notch print products. Serves as the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) or Alternate Contracting Officer Representative (ACOR). Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Individual Occupational Requirement: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- journalism, business administration, English composition, commerce, accounting, printing or printing engineering, graphic or commercial art, industrial engineering, or economics. In addition to meeting the individual occupational requirement, qualified applicants must possess: For GS-07, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-05 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as experience managing day-to-day operations within a printshop setting, ensuring seamless workflow and timely delivery of products, performing regular maintenance tasks, and troubleshooting equipment issues within a printshop environment. For GS-09, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-07 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as experience overseeing and managing day-to-day operations within a printshop setting, ensuring seamless workflow and timely delivery of products; working with designers, while effectively communicating and collaborating to meet project requirements and exceed expectations; and performing regular maintenance tasks and troubleshooting equipment issues within a printshop environment. For GS-11, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-09 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as experience overseeing and managing day-to-day operations within a printshop setting, ensuring seamless workflow and timely delivery of products; working with designers, while effectively communicating and collaborating to meet project requirements and exceed expectations; experience in prepress operations, including file preparation, proofing, and quality control measures to uphold the highest standards of print quality and accuracy; and performing regular maintenance tasks and troubleshooting equipment issues within a printshop environment. For GS-12, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-11 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as experience overseeing and managing day-to-day operations within a printshop setting, ensuring seamless workflow and timely delivery of products; working with designers, while effectively communicating and collaborating to meet project requirements and exceed expectations; experience in prepress operations, including file preparation, proofing, and quality control measures to uphold the highest standards of print quality and accuracy; performing regular maintenance tasks and troubleshooting equipment issues within a printshop environment; and contract experience for ongoing contracts, consumables, and one-time purchases, including managing vendor relationships, negotiating terms, and ensuring compliance with procurement regulations and procedures. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of education for the specialized experience requirement at the GS-07 grade level: Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement or 1 academic year of graduate education (or law school, as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements). Superior Academic Achievement: S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE AT GS-09 LEVEL: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, or Master's or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D., may be substituted to meet the experience requirement. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE AT GS-11 LEVEL: Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
