This position required to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.

This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) positions and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This is skilled work in several trade areas in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor II-SES, the incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting with day-to-day activities and operations of the general services department. This individual will be responsible for general maintenance and repair duties at all Broward County Health Department (BCHD) buildings in Broward County to include owned, rented, shared, or leased properties.

This position is responsible for troubleshooting and identifying facility problems. Performing inspections or diagnosing facility or equipment problems, including but not limited to structures or materials to identify the causes of errors, problems, defects, and determining the type of tools and solution(s) required. This position is responsible for repairing, servicing, aligning, adjusting, installing, modifying, assembling, preparing, and fixing work assignments.

This position is responsible for communicating and updating the status of facility services requests in a timely manner. Communicating with clients to determine their painting requirements and helping them make the best decisions for their projects, and following safeguards, rules, and regulations.

This position is responsible to assist maintenance mechanics identify problems, assist in repairs and supply and provide materials needed to accomplish their task. The incumbent has access to BCHD facilities on weekends and before/after hours and is on-call to respond to security, emergencies, vaccine and for services requested/required by program offices within the BCHD. Participates in incident command activation/ deactivation, mobilization/demobilization, supply, and distribution within the logistics section during any all-hazard event. Performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.

  • Valid driver’s license free of major infractions, and willingness to drive county vehicle to various sites throughout the day .

  • At least three (3) years hands-on experience in commercial facilities repairs and/or maintenance.

  • Minimum of (5) years of documented commercial painting, commercial drywall installation, repairs and finishing skill.

  • Able to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day as needed, and able to work a flexible schedule per agency needs.

  • Proficient in reading and understanding English.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    1. Minimum of two (2) years of experience with minor electrical, plumbing, grounds keeping, and carpentry.

    2. Able to lift 80 pounds.

    3. Experience utilizing Microsoft office products .

    4. An associate degree in any field.
