U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Training Instructor (Munitions) in Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia

Summary About the Position: Serves as training instructor and participates in course development. Responsible for both pre-instructional and instructional actions including overall maintenance and improvement of assigned course areas of MUNITIONS. Applies a variety of instructional techniques including lecture, seminar, conference and group discussion, programmed instruction, self-paced instruction, and multimedia instruction. Responsibilities Counsel students in performance, behavior, attitude, or participation to support effective classroom instruction. Implement a positive learning environment promoting engagement, active listening, problem solving, and sustainment of interest. Adhere to established training procedures and regulations to ensure a positive learning environment. Prepare for classes by ensuring instructional materials and systems are operational. Develop a learner-centric environment by incorporating students from diverse backgrounds. Counsel students when participation or results are not satisfactory. Evaluate student performance through the use of graded examinations and practical exercises. Conduct field training to certify students in subject area requirements. Conduct class orientation to acquaint students with course of instruction, training objectives, standards, and policies. Converse with students to ensure proficiency with oral communication skills. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s), manage/administer a training program, establish/maintain training safety and equipment maintenance protocols, develop/review training/course materials, aids, devices, etc. and evaluation of training results, or work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training, mentoring and/or instructing others on a regular basis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. [remove LL.M., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Instructional Delivery and Learner Development Instructional Environment Management Interpersonal Skills Learning and Program Evaluation Oral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
