Air Combat Command SECURITY ASSISTANT in Fort Eustis, Virginia

The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate, implement, provide, and perform moderate/difficult duties and responsible security clerical/administration work, process various security related documentation and assist in the enforcement of federal laws and assimilated local laws for application and enforcement at a multi-mission installation. Responsibilities Summary continued To include request for issuance of Restricted Area badges, identification credentials, contractor badges, as well as other documents. 1. Processes applications and issues identification cards, visitor passes, restricted area badges and monitors and maintains the Civilian Contractor Badge records. 2. Maintains controlled forms to issue base entry documents and screen visitors. 3. Carries out routine, miscellaneous clerical task. 4. Provides general customer service. Focuses on responsive and accurate customer service with Pass & Registration/Visitor Center environment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, to include the Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for the GS Security Clerical and Assistance Series 0086. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: practical knowledge of personnel security, investigation processes, and applicable regulations, directives, and instructions regarding security and force protection measures; knowledge of and ability to exercise sound judgment in application of security directives and principles; knowledge of and ability to operate Criminal Justice Information Systems and automated databases associated with a specific security function to support office and security operations; and knowledge of vetting standards for visitors requesting installation access. OR EDUCATION: Applicants must have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge/ Ability to exercise sound judgment in application of security directives and principles. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects. 2. Knowledge of personnel security, investigation processes and applicable AF regulations, directives, instructions regarding security and force protection measures. 3. Knowledge and ability to operate Criminal Justice Information Systems, to include National Crime Information Center. Operate one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to support office and security operations and produce a variety of documents and reports. 4. Knowledge of Air Force Justice Information System (AFJIS), Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS), Air Force Law Enforcement Terminal, Advantor Badging System and Physical Access Control System (PACS), vetting standards for visitors requesting installation access. 5. Knowledge of Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 5 (HSPD-5), criminal codes/statutes and immigration laws used in screening personnel and Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 12 (HSPD-12), policy for common identification standard for federal employees and contractors. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
