Description of Work Unit

Campus Recreation, an auxiliary unit in the Division of Student Affairs, provides wellness and healthy lifestyle-oriented programs, events, and services to Colorado State University students and employees via seven programmatic areas: Student Recreation Center, Aquatics, Fitness, Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Outdoor Program, and Climbing Wall. Nine service units – Member Services, Business Office, Information Technology, Communications/Marketing, Facility Scheduling, Training and Development, Custodial Services, Equipment Management, and Maintenance – support the program functions to provide seamless customer service to CSU students, employees, and their families.

Campus Recreation facilities, programs, and services promote a sense of community, support student development through leadership and employment opportunities, and encourage the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle to a diverse University population. Campus Recreation employs 34 career staff, up to 50 part-time staff, and 300+ student staff who are committed to providing a safe, welcoming space to CSU community members from all backgrounds and fitness levels.

Position Summary

The Yoga Instructor is responsible for leading various, semester-long, drop-in oriented yoga classes for Campus Recreation patrons to promote health, wellness, and development in areas of yoga. Instructors will operate independently and enforce program participation policies, provide safe and effective education and instruction and apply risk management procedures in emergency situations.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Create class curricula and lead groups through various levels and types of Yoga practice suitable for varying ability levels.

  • Consistently uphold all Campus Recreation department policies and procedures for patron and employee management related to position, solve problems within limits of department policy and procedures, and maintain effective communication with colleagues.

  • Uphold service ethic, appearance standards and Emergency Action Plan response.

  • Demonstrate active engagement with and support of the department Mission, Vision, and Values.

  • Provide a safe and effective environment for patrons.

  • Demonstrate strong instruction, motivation, leadership and customer service skills.

  • Be alert to disorders, injuries and inappropriate behavior and deal with as trained or report to supervisor accordingly.

  • Attend all trainings, Recreation Development Program sessions, instructor team and one-on-one meetings as required

  • Perform peer evaluations and studio cleaning as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.
