Purpose and Scope The Vice President of Medical Affairs is responsible for the development and successful execution of the medical affairs strategy, programs and deliverables, consistent and aligned with compliant marketing strategies. This position provides clinical and subject-matter expertise to the marketing and sales teams and ensures the scientific integrity of all research, information, and communication with healthcare providers and patient advocacy groups. It is essential for this person to forge productive and compliant partnerships with the internal product development and commercial teams, as well as outside healthcare providers and opinion leaders. An additional responsibility shall be the ability to contribute to the business development process that seeks new and innovative treatments in the therapeutic areas of interest. The Vice President of Medical Affairs will select and hire members of the Medical Affairs staff and provide leadership and guidance to the team to ensure quality execution of the Medical Affairs strategy. This position reports to the Chief Medical Officer. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Work with the CMO to develop and successfully execute the Medical Affairs strategy, programs and deliverables. Establish trusting and compliant relationships with experts and advocates within the urology, uro-oncology, pediatric endocrinology and Men's health community. Develop and execute a strong advocacy plan with experts in the field, academics and professionals and/or patient associations to build product awareness and gain strategic insights for marketing and development strategy. Work with the Chief Medical Officer to identify new assets for our portfolio within the therapeutic areas of interest (Business development). Represent TOLMAR Pharmaceuticals at medical meetings and advisory boards, as well as in discussions with key opinion leaders to enhance product knowledge and awareness. Provide clinical expertise to the sales and marketing teams to aid in the development and execution of compliant commercial activities. Provide internal education and training sessions to ensure consistent, up-to-date scientific and medical information to the Commercial team. Oversee the staffing, performance management and development of the medical affairs organization. Contribute to the development and implementation of companywide policies and procedures. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Pharmaceutical market and U.S. healthcare market expertise. In-depth knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations and guidelines. Strong executive presence. Ability to synthesize multiple streams of information to form strategy in a rapidly changing dynamic environment and bring clarity of focus to ambiguous market conditions. Ability to build and execute comprehensive tactical plans tied to customer strategies to maximize company product sales and profitability. Ability to work with highly technical information, external scientists and thought leaders and internal R&D, regulatory and manufacturing organizations, and key industry decision makers to translate to commercial relevance and planning. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing. Strong leadership skills; able to effectively communicate with the team regarding expectations. Skill in implementing effective organization; including proper problem-solving and follow-up. Strong negotiation skills at all levels of targeted audience. Strong organizational skills. Skilled at using judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Ability to keep up with current business practices within the industry. Ability to develop working relationships with both internal and external customers and work as a team player with employees at all levels. Ability to create customer loyalty. Ability to deliver on commitments Ability to multi-task and prioritize frequently changing needs. Ability to work with multiple interruptions and tight deadlines. Ability to demonstrate good judgment and discretion. Education & Experience MD or MD/Ph.D. or Ph.D. with relevant research and medical affairs experience in the oncology space. Ten or more years of progressive medical affairs responsibility in pharmaceutical industry. Experience and background in medical oncology is strongly preferred. Working Conditions Remote work is allowed. Office environment; requiring sitting and standing. Travel is required up to 50%.
