V2X Weapons Specialist / Small Arms Repair, INSCOM in Fort Belvoir, Virginia

Under the United States (U.S.) Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) Global Intelligence Logistics and Engineering (GILE) program, Team V2X will provide: global multi-disciplined engineering; facilities; sustainment and maintenance of non-standard (non-Program of Record) and Program of Record intelligence systems to include the integration of new intelligence technologies and capabilities; Portal management; hardware design and integration; network management; technology development and application; and supply chain / logistics support to INSCOM, U.S. Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER), Army Intelligence, Joint Forces, Combatant Commands, and the Intelligence Community (IC). Team V2X will enable INSCOM’s mission of anticipating requirements and employing innovative techniques to equip and sustain Soldiers, Civilians, systems, and facilities. As a dedicated partner to INSCOM G4, Team V2X is committed to enhancing readiness as part of Combined, Joint, and IC interdependent teams supporting tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence units, personnel, ground and aerial intelligence equipment, operation facilities, and infrastructure from multiple CONUS and OCONUS locations.

This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technician with oversight of entire Weapons Specialist / Small Arms project; including delegation of tasks and review of work product at customer facilities.

  • Responsible for developing technical solutions in collaboration with internal or external subject matter expertise.

  • Ability to show an advanced understanding and application of standards, principles, and technical concepts in performance of inspections of client facilities and report findings / corrective actions to varying levels of customers’ chain of command.

  • Travel world-wide to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, to include technical inspections on small arms weapons.

  • Communicate with program, Government, external organizations, and vendors on daily basis; report finding / decisions to program leadership.

  • Perform Two Level PMCS: Quarterly Services and Annual Gauging as required.

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot malfunctions, and conduct repairs on various complex military weapons.

  • Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor and/or site lead.

  • Disassemble weapons, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and other components to diagnose malfunctions.

  • Perform small arms inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs as required.

  • Conduct Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) of all work; conduct operational checks and final inspections to ensure maintenance repairs are complete IAW Applicable Technical Manual (TM).

Qualifications

Education / Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum of five (5) years of experience troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing weapons such as, but not limited to the following: the M9, M11, M17, M18 Pistol, M4, M16 Rifle, M14, M500 Shotgun, M2, M249, M240 Series Machine Gun, M203, M320, and MK19 Grenade Launcher and previous exposure to Arms Room procedures.

    Security Clearance Requirement:

  • Must be a US Citizen with a current Secret level Security Clearance (based upon a Tier 3 Background Investigation).

    Experience / Skills:

  • Must possess an Armor Certification or Industry standard Gun Smith certification(s).

  • Must have previous Arms Room management experience.

  • Process a valid state driver's license.

  • Must have knowledge of gunsmith tools and procedures, as well as knowledge of firearms operating principles.

  • Basic knowledge of U.S. Army maintenance standards and logistics information systems (GCSS-A).

  • Prior military or civilian equivalent experience in Military Occupational Skill (MOS) 45B, 45K or 91F desired.

  • Experience using required tools (i.e., hand and power tools, hammers, punches, files, stones, precision gauges, test instruments, and alignment devices) in making repairs, modifications, and adjustments.

  • Experience performing Quarterly PMCS and Annual Gauging IAW applicable TM. Defense contracting experience troubleshooting, inspecting, and repairing military weapons.

  • Knowledge in completing necessary documentation such as DA Forms 2404/5988E, Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet, DA Form 2407 Maintenance Request, DA Form 2407–1 Maintenance Request Continuation Sheet, DA Form 5990 and other applicable DA / DoD forms.

  • Be thoroughly familiar with U.S. Military Technical Manuals (TMs). Must have knowledge of gunsmith tools and procedures, as well as knowledge of firearms operating principles. Must be able to accomplish the work un-supervised.

  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, and snow and sleet.

  • Must be able to stand for a minimum two continuous hours.

  • Must be able to lift more than 70lbs on occasion and at least 45lbs on a routine basis.

  • Must be able to function with an intermediate level of English oral and written language skills.

  • Must be able to travel worldwide for long periods of time; this position requires TDY travel to INSCOM units worldwide to conduct weapons maintenance and inspections at least 75% of the time.
