MAG Senior Electro-Optical Engineer (Fort Belvoir, VA) in Fort Belvoir, Virginia

Position Summary

We are seekinghighlymotivatedand experiencedelectro-opticalengineerforourNatickTeamsupportingalargeU.S. Army contractheadquartered at Fort Belvoir, VA.Application to this position includes pre-hire assessments in general cognition, technical aptitude, communication, and soft skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and analysis in evaluation of sensor prototypes and systems, to include thermal imagersandimage intensifiers

  • Translate military operational and mission requirements (ground, sea, air, and space) into practical system concepts and performance specifications

  • Develop andmaintaintechnical documentation such as specifications, engineering drawings, system interface requirements, and engineering changes

  • Participate in post awards, program reviews, design reviews, and IPTs as the project engineer and/or technical expert on assigned programs

  • Evaluate design efforts to ensure integration of all the engineering disciplines and adequacy of the analyses performed, andoptimizesize, weight, and power, with cost (SWaP-C)

  • Review test plans, procedures, and reports for technical adequacy on assigned programs, for both Government and contractor tests, as well as all failure reports

  • Conduct and/ormonitorlab, contractor, and field testing to assess system performance and compliance with requirements. Evaluate system performance against specification requirements and assess risk of meeting user and specification requirements

  • Evaluate system electro-optic engineering technologies used on past programs, andestablishnew and innovative engineering strategies

  • Make recommendations and present briefingsand conduct demonstrations to senior level managers in Government and industry at program manager, SES, and General Officer levels

  • Initiate and review engineering change proposals and waivers/deviations for technical merit, and conduct physical and functional configuration audits

  • Determineor evaluate analysis needed to investigate failures or performance issues, and ensureappropriateand complete root cause corrective action isidentified,validated, and implemented in all productsasrequired

  • Recommend approaches to implement electro optic system level components into prototypes capable of achieving user requirements

  • Coordinate R&D efforts with DOD, National Labs, andappropriate internationalforums toleverageresources

  • Review program management documents to ensure accuracy and adequacy of technical content

  • Serve as consultant/mentortoleadership andteam members on electro-optic system development, prototyping, integrating, and testingofelectro-optic sensor systems

Requirements

  • BSinElectrical or OpticalEngineering and10yearsofrelevant experience

  • Current SECRET security clearanceor ability to obtain

  • Knowledge, ability, and experienceleadingengineering efforts with minimal oversight

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Independent worker and self-starter

  • Experience with Soldier systems/equipmentstrongly preferred

  • Current U.S. blue passport and ability to travel (CONUSandOCONUS) up to10%

  • Adherence to program's teleworking policy of camera on and professional attire (smart casual) while working remotely

The projected compensation range for this position is $80000 to $120000 (annualized USD).
