Summary This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. This position is placed in the Operations and Integration Directorate (OI). Responsibilities This position may be filled at either GG-12 or GG-13 grade level. As a INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST at the GG-0132-12/13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Provides counterintelligence functional services support to elements of the Agency. - Identifies trends and provides predictive assessments of future behavior of FIEs. - Recommends various countermeasures in an effort to mitigate and counter collection efforts of FIEs. - Provides advice, assistance, and training to Agency personnel. - Plans, prepares, and conducts counterintelligence and force protection briefings for DTRA personnel departing for and returning from foreign travel. - Applies knowledge of FIE operations and terrorist modus operandi to formulate briefings and provide recommendations to travelers and senior department officials deploying overseas. - Creates and implements counterintelligence support plans. - Drafts, prepares, and reviews both operations and intelligence information reports. - Conducts research and analysis on matters of counterintelligence or force protection concern. - Identifies trends and conducts analysis on counterintelligence threats and vulnerabilities. - Conducts counterintelligence and force protection assessments of DTRA and DoD facilities and programs worldwide. - Provides advice and recommendations as needed in order to enhance security measures and protect critical information. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You may qualify at the GG-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-12 grade level in the Federal service: Experience providing counterintelligence support to Research, Development, and Acquisition activities and/or arms control teams. Experience with Foreign Intelligence Entities (FIE) and collection techniques, identifies trends, provides predictive assessments and develops and implements FIE threat mitigation activities. Experience in leading the development, publication, and implementation of counterintelligence products You may qualify at the GG-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: B. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-11 grade level in the Federal service: Experience assisting with counterintelligence support to Research, Development, and Acquisition activities and/or arms control teams. Experience assisting with Foreign Intelligence Entities (FIE) and collection techniques, identifies trends, provides predictive assessments and develops and implements FIE threat mitigation activities. Experience assisting with leading the development, publication, and implementation of counterintelligence products. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for GG-12 and GG-13. Foreign education may be qualifying if a private organization specializing in interpreting foreign education programs has deemed the foreign education equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program or a U.S. accredited college or university has given full credit for the foreign courses. Unofficial transcripts from U.S. Department of Education accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions listing your name, the name of the school, the date and degree awarded, and the list of classes and credits earned are acceptable for the application process. If selected, official transcripts are required before a firm job offer is made. A photocopy of your degree/diploma is not acceptable. When relying on foreign education, submit transcripts and a copy of the equivalency evaluation results letter with a course-by-course listing.
