Hiring Bonus : $1,000 after 90 days and $1,000 after 1 year

Position Overview

The Technical Manager provides oversight and management of the Maintenance, Machine and Tooling shops, ensuring all production equipment and tooling meets production capabilities and requirements efficiently, consistently, and safely according to Mustad goals and objectives. Essential Job Functions ( required duties and responsibilities)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Plans and implements a preventive maintenance plan and corrective maintenance activities for production assets and buildings, identifying internal/external technical assistance and resources required.

  • Evaluates and defines current machine and tool capabilities, proposing improvements and/or changes of machinery and auxiliary equipment and processes utilizing appropriate Lean techniques, reliability center maintenance (RCM), and zero failure analysis (ZFA) approaches.

  • Installs and conducts start-up of new equipment, following manufacturers’ specifications and all internal safety and SOP regulations and procedures, including Mustad Performance System (MPS), a Lean system.

  • Manages the manufacturing of tooling and spare parts, ensuring optimal cost effectiveness, quality, and delivery.

  • Manages all technical information related with maintenance and machine shop, including the use of maintenance and machine shop software; maintains and updates all technical, safety, and vendor information for machines and parts; also prepares weekly progress reports and maintenance logs.

  • Supervises direct reports; trains, coaches, monitors and provides feedback for process improvement and problem resolution. Conducts performance reviews.

  • Contributes to budgeting and planning, tracking expenses and utilizing cost-benefits analyses.

  • P rovides other support to management as requested and needed.

    Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, robotics, electrical engineering, or a related field. Engineering degree.

  • 10+ years’ experience leading maintenance, machine shop, and engineering teams

  • Proven expertise in manufacturing processes, machine shop (CNC machines), RCM (reliability-centered maintenance), lean manufacturing, ISO & HSE standards

  • Working knowledge of equipment, techniques, and design procedures for a variety of manufactured products

  • Working knowledge of CNC machines, master CAM, Solid-, and design procedures for a variety of manufactured products

  • Proven experience in project planning and management

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

    Desirable Skills/Attributes (preferred but not required)

  • Strong mathematical skills, with an emphasis on calculus, statistics, and applications of both

  • Ability to communicate critical and supportive feedback verbally and in writing

  • Strong excel, Power-BI, Scada, and data analysis skills

    Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Frequent standing and walking

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

    Work Environment

  • Office setting in manufacturing/distribution facility environment

  • Infrequent domestic and international travel

  • Exposure to plant and warehouse environment, including heat, humidity, dust fumes, gases, toxic/caustic chemicals, airborne particles, and significantly loud noise; Exposure to moving mechanical parts online, as well as moving equipment throughout the factory or warehouse

  • Mandatory use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
