Defense Information Systems Agency Student Trainee (Information Technology) - CES Intern in Ford Island, Hawaii

Summary This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Technician/Administrative Support Work Category at the Entry/Developmental Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA OC/CE/PACIFIC FIELD COMMAND. Responsibilities Provide customer support for hardware and software video conferencing systems, audio/visual Write programing code for audio/video control systems (similar to Python and C+/C++), including video matrix switching and audio signal processing. Configure, test and troubleshoot conference room audio/visual systems used at multiple classification levels. Perform configuration and testing of internet protocol voice and video conferencing systems. In addition to the basic requirement above: One year of qualifying experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GG-04 Education requirement: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree. GG-05 Education requirement: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. GG-07 Education requirement: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree. The required education must lead to a bachelor's degree with specialization in or directly related to the field in which the student trainees will receive training on the job. PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION ELIGIBILITY: Upon successful completion of their academic program and the trainee program, interns may be converted to a permanent position in the Excepted Service consistent with agency needs, academic achievement, and demonstrated potential. Conversion potential for this opportunity is a GG-2210-09 up to the full performance level of GG-12. However, future budgetary events, hiring restrictions, conversion caps, or other events may preclude the conversion or conversion to a position with the full potential performance level. Individuals converted to a position in the competitive service may be subjected to participation in an agency formal development program. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Education Education Requirement: GS-04 Substitution of Education for Experience: Two years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the general experience required. GS-05 Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Applicants must sign a Participant Agreement; be able to furnish course registration information at the start of each school term; and be able to provide verification of academic status (official transcript) at the end of each academic term. Selected applicants must maintain good academic standing, remain students as long as they are employed under the student program, perform their jobs successfully, and meet any other component-specific requirements outline in their Participant Agreements. At management discretion this position maybe converted to permanent position within 120 days of successful degree completion. Conversion is not mandatory or guaranteed for participants and is dependent (among other things) on the employee's successful completion of the Agency student-program requirements. Management may select at any grade level advertised in this announcement and promotion is not guaranteed.
