Director of Turfgrass Operations

Job Summary This position requires you to oversee three farms along the Gulf Coast and to ensure that they are operating in a smooth and profitable manner, with sustainable production methods and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety compliance and ensure a safe working environment.
• Manage planting, production, and harvest expectations with onsite farm managers.
• Oversee staffing levels, capital equipment purchases, and farm inputs.
• Ensure that the farms are running in a systemic form-implement processes for long term farm goals, research new or better equipment and turf grass cultivators.
• Maintain and develop vendor relations with emphasis on soil reports and analysis recommendations.
• Develop and oversee budgets for each farm.
• Be on site at each farm at least one day every other week.
• Be able and willing to cover farm manager positions if necessary.
• Manage sod growth and quality for large contracts.
• Attend professional organization events as necessary.
• Always represent the company in a professional manner.

Skills and Experience

• Equipment operation.
• Pesticide and fertilizer knowledge.
• Basic computer skills including Excel.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

Level of Education

• Bachelor's degree preferred

Certifications

• Possess or be willing to obtain a Restricted Use Pesticide License.

Experience

• Ten years of experience in agriculture in a leadership role. The ideal candidate will have a background in growing sod or in a large farm operation.
