ASM Global Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk in Florence, South Carolina

S UMMARY

The Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk assists in all accounting functions of the facility to include payroll processing, accounts payable and general ledger accounting. This employee prepares periodic reports, reviews, and reconciles data, and participates in the development of specialized financial data.

E SSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

General Accounting

  • Create and enter journal entries.

  • Maintain, reconcile, and analyze general ledger accounts.

  • Assist in the month-end closing process.

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.

  • Prepare various financial reports and analysis as requested .

  • Assist in internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.

  • Assists with audits.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Payroll

  • Assist in the development and implementation of corporate goals and priorities relating to payroll management in compliance with State and Federal law and SMG policies and procedures.

  • Manage and guarantee bi-weekly disbursements of facility payroll for all employees.

  • Manage the process of wage garnishments, deductions, and payments for applicable employees.

  • Ability to recognize and research errors on payroll reports, including tax credits and employee wage discrepancies.

  • Maintain payroll software and program maintenance.

  • Prepare and enter journal entries related to payroll and benefits.

    Accounts Payable

  • Match purchase order s , invoices to receiving documents , and post invoices into the computer system daily.

  • Research vendor statements, phone calls and discrepancies.

  • File paid and unpaid invoices and statements.

  • Apply customer payments, research, and solve payment discrepancies.

  • Review, code, process, and distribute accounts payable checks.

  • Maintain accounts payable system records.

    Front Desk

  • Answer incoming calls; determine purpose of caller, and forward calls to appropriate personnel or department for the Receptionist during lunch breaks and rest breaks as needed.

    E DUCAITON AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • An Associate’s degree from a two -year college with a major in Accounting or Business Administration.

  • 2 + years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • E xperience in public accounting or event facility accounting preferred.

  • A combination of education and experience may be accepted .

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are essential.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills .

  • Professional appearance and attitude are essential.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Must pass credit check and background check.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Close vision for review of information on a PC monitor, as well as hard copy output.

  • Manual dexterity for regular use of hands for typing is required .

  • May spend long hours sitting at computer viewing computer monitor.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with Sage or Peachtree Accounting Software preferred.

    HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel minimal.

  • May require the ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hours.
