PeaceHealth is seeking a Labor and Delivery Charge Nurse in beautiful Florence Oregon!
Full Time, 0.9 FTE
Night shift position (12 hour shifts)
The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $47.40 – $74.48.
The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.
Job Summary
The Charge Nurse is a frontline leader who works under the direction of the Manager/Director. The Charge Nurse assists the Manager/Director in coordinating unit activities which assure safe and clinically effective patient care. The Charge Nurse supports and directs staff members in providing compassionate care and services to patients and families from diverse ethnic and social groups. Independent decision-making is expected in the execution of routine duties.
Essential Functions
Coordinate patient care by shift and department.
Supervision and assessment of clinical practice. Direct and delegate to other team members.
Coach for performance to achieve individual and organizational goals; including orientation, competencies and evaluations.
Develop the departmental team and collaborative relationships to achieve expected outcomes.
Serve as a clinical and resource expert for the department.
Articulate shift/team operational issues to management as appropriate.
Appropriate stewardship of resources.
Adapts decision-making style to the situation and level of authority for achieving an optimal outcome including using collaborative decision making and effective communication skills.
Identify and apply opportunities for clinical practice improvement and support them with staff.
Ensure professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
Preferred: Specialty certification
Experience
Minimum of 2 years RN experience required
3 years Preferred: Acute care nursing experience
Credentials
Required: State of Oregon RN license
Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support
Required: NRP at date of hire
Required: AWHONN at hire or within grace period
Required: ACLS according to Resuscitation Training Completion Requirements policy.

PHMG-Eugene/Springfield: O/P Endoscopy
Minimum two years of Endoscopy nursing experience required.
Charge Nurse experience preferred.
ACLS certification required at date of hire
Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend:
BSN required within 36 months from the start date of the Charge Nurse role.
Nurses may be able to work in another nursing unit if they have completed the necessary CareConnect training, unit-specific competencies, and have been deemed competent by a leader of the unit they are floating to (including, but not limited to the unit manager, assistant nurse manager, or clinical nurse educator).
Short Stay Unit: 3 years RN experience required in an acute care hospital setting
Peace Harbor:
Minimum of 6 months Operating Room nursing experience. Ability to independently circulate major cases in full service Operating Room; One year experience in critical care or emergent care preferred.
ACLS, PALS and NRP upon hire, unless identified grace period.
St. John Medical Center:
Labor Delivery: Two years RN experience in a labor & delivery unit. NRP within one year, STABLE within one year
Emergency: At least two years recent Emergency experience required. Other experience may be considered. Must demonstrate independent management of cardiac, complex med/surg, pediatric, and trauma patients. ACLS within 6 months, PALS or ENPC within one year, TNCC within one year. May assist with Trauma Case review in conjunction with the Trauma Registrar and/or Trauma Coordinator
ICU: Two years recent acute care experience or successful completion of intern/cross-training program. Recent ICU experience is preferred. ACLS within 6 months
Operating Room, Medical, Surgical and Telemetry: ACLS within 6 months
Surgical Pre-op: One year of experience as a registered nurse preferred. Surgical Pre-Op experience preferred.
Recovery Room: Recovery, emergency, and/or critical care experience required. ACLS within 6 months. PALS within one year.
Short Stay: Acute care setting, conscious sedation, cardiac and/or GI experience preferred. ACLS within 6 months for GI. ACLS within 6 months for Radiology.
Special Procedures: Minimum of two years nursing experience in the specified area/specialty. Two years’ experience in critical care OR one year experience in higher volume interventional cardiovascular lab. Ability to monitor and provide hemodynamic information to physician. Proficient in sterile technique and operating in sterile environment. IV Therapy. IABP Management. Advanced EKG. ACLS required at date of hire CCRN or RCIS preferred.
OP Oncology: One year of experience as a registered nurse preferred. RN experience in an acute care setting, medical/surgical, specialty outpatient setting. Previous oncology and infusion experience as a RN. Central line, IV and PICC line care and knowledge. All Preferred Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certification (through ONF) required or must obtain within 6 months of hire. Oncology (OCN) certification preferred.
Ketchikan Medical Center:
ICU: Satisfactory performance in staff nurse classification (minimum three years) required. Demonstrates effective leadership abilities. Demonstrates ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and customer-focused work environment. Demonstrates the ability to create high staff morale. Capable of working both ICU and Med/Surg. One-year experience as a designated charge nurse or other supervisory position preferred. Demonstrates preceptor and monitoring skills preferred. 12 Lead EKG Basics preferred. Current ACLS certification required. Telemetry proficient. PALS and NRP certification preferred.
Medical: ACLS and PALS required at hire, or according to Resuscitation Training Completion Requirements policy. Telemetry required within 90 days of hire.
OBGYN: Satisfactory performance in staff nurse classification (minimum three years) required. Demonstrates effective leadership abilities. Demonstrates ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and customer-focused work environment. Demonstrates the ability to create high staff morale. One-year experience as a designated charge nurse or other supervisory position preferred. Demonstrates preceptor and monitoring skills preferred. Three years Labor/Delivery/Post-Partum/Newborn nursing experience preferred. ACLS required at date of hire or within 6 months. NRP required at date of hire or within 6 months. Electronic Fetal Monitoring course required within 6 months. STABLE certification preferred.
Long Term Care: Satisfactory performance in staff nurse classification (minimum three years) required. Demonstrates effective leadership abilities. Demonstrates ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and customer-focused work environment. Demonstrates the ability to create high staff morale. Demonstrates proficiency with all aspects of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process. One-year experience as a designated charge nurse or other supervisory position preferred. Demonstrates preceptor and monitoring skills preferred.
Operating Room: Satisfactory performance in staff nurse classification (minimum three years) required. Demonstrates effective leadership abilities. Demonstrates ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and customer-focused work environment. Demonstrates the ability to create high staff morale. Two-years OR experience required. One-year experience as a designated charge nurse or other supervisory position preferred. Demonstrates preceptor and monitoring skills preferred. ACLS, and PALS certification required.
Emergency: Satisfactory performance in staff nurse classification as a primary clinical provider in ER (one year required). Demonstrates effective leadership abilities. Demonstrates ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and customer-focused work environment. Demonstrates the ability to create high staff morale. The ability to work in an intermittently fast-paced, high-volume, high-risk environment is required. One-year experience as a designated charge nurse in the ER or other supervisory position preferred. Demonstrates preceptor and monitoring skills preferred. Full-time ER nurse preferred. ACLS, PALS, TNCC certification required. ENPC certification preferred. Current Instructor for ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, preferred. CEN certification preferred. ABG certified preferred.
Working Conditions
Lifting
Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions
Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual
Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
