DESCRIPTION
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs skilled work in the repair and maintenance of varied types of trucks, heavy equipment, and accessories. On occasion performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the repair and maintenance of automobiles. Performs related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the supervision of an employee of higher classification.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May Exercise working supervision over employees engaged in semi- skilled repair and maintenance tasks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Overhauls, repairs, and maintains a variety of light and heavy-duty trucks, heavy construction equipment, automobiles, their accessories, and other equipment such as air compressors, mowers, and spray equipment.
Performs major repairs on gasoline and diesel engines; transmissions; differentials; drive units; brakes; suspension systems; cooling systems; fuel systems; instrumentation; electrical systems; hydraulic systems; accessory power equipment. Removes, repairs, replaces, and rebuilds engines, carburetors, ignition systems and other components of trucks and heavy equipment. Performs skilled and semi-skilled repairs on automobiles, such as tune-ups, removing, repairing and/or replacing water pumps, fan belts and brakes.
Repairs and alters equipment using welding and cutting equipment.
