Job Summary
The Information and Technology Services (ITS) organization at the University of Michigan-Flint has an exciting opportunity for a Data Security Analyst Intermediate. As part of a high performance team with expanding responsibilities, you will work in a collaborative environment to perform risk and compliance assessments of important systems to improve the security posture of the University's most sensitive assets, and provide security consulting for university systems and units.
You will report to the Network & Security Operations Manager
Responsibilities*
Performs and manages risk assessments and vulnerability scans on University assets. Maintain compliance with the University of Michigan security program.
Evaluate risk assessment findings and recommend options for remediation of any discovered threats. Work with appropriate staff to implement remediation of threats/vulnerabilities.
Work with both commercial vendor products and open source software to create comprehensive security toolsets.
Monitor Security Alerts - Learn to perform analysis of logs and alerts. Analyze alerts to identify potential security incidents. Use a (SIEM) tool to analyze network traffic, logs, and other security-related data for unusual or suspicious activities.
Be the technical resource for other unit staff.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field
3 or more years of information technology experience. Applicants with less experience will be considered at an associate level underfill.
2 or more years of experience applying security related technologies, practices, or services.
Demonstrated knowledge of IP networking, networking protocols and an understanding of security related technologies including encryption, VPN, NGfirewalls, proxy services, vulnerability scanners, IDS/IPS, risk assessment methodologies, regulations such as HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, PCI-DSS.

Work Schedule

A hybrid work schedule (some days on campus and some days working remotely) is available for this position at this time. However, this is subject to change based on the responsibilities of the position and the needs of the department.
