Job Description

Horizon Physical Therapy is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Billing and Collections Specialist to join our team. This position combines the responsibilities of billing and collections, ensuring the accuracy of claims and the timely collection of payments. The ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for working with numbers, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage the entire billing and collections process efficiently.

Purpose:

The Billing and Collections Specialist is responsible for verifying patient services against charges, submitting complete and accurate claims, and collecting the full amount owed from insurance companies, attorneys, and patients in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify patient insurance and accurately enter all new patient information.
• Perform data entry and verification of daily charges.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies daily.
• Type medical necessity letters and insurance reports.
• Coordinate with Patient Services Staff on patient benefits, insurance coverage, and collection of co-pays, co-insurance, etc.
• Resubmit denied or rejected claims promptly.
• Track all submitted claims and follow up to ensure full payment.
• Persistently pursue outstanding balances with insurance companies, attorneys, and patients.
• Manage filing (soft or hard copy) as needed.

Skills and Abilities Required:

• A fondness for working with numbers.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers and billing software.
• Experience in medical coding and collections is preferred but not required.
• Highly organized and persistent, with the ability to request payments without hesitation.

Product:

• Complete and accurate claims submitted on time for maximum payment.
• Payments received from insurance companies, attorneys, and patients by any means, including electronic funds deposit, cash, check, or credit card.

Statistics:

• Number of claims submitted daily and the total value of claims submitted.
• Number of collection contacts made, the dollar amount promised, and the total amount collected.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
