GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONUnder the supervision of the NACASA Program Manager, applies clinical expertise to the development and implementation of protocols and processes to provide medical forensic examinations to adult and adolescent victims of sexual assault and domestic violence strangulation in Flagstaff, Show Low, Holbrook, and Round Valley. Assists with recruiting, training, coordination, and supervision of the NACASA contract Forensic Nurse Examiners across all exam sites. Provides community outreach and participates in community meetings. Assists with systems building. May provide medical forensic exams to victims of domestic violence strangulation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversees team of contract Forensic Nurse Examiners (FNEs) in Coconino, Navajo, and Apache Counties, including participation in clinical supervision, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, credentialing, training, case review, and precepting. This duty is performed daily.
  2. Applies clinical expertise to implement and maintain clinical policies across the NACASA program, including maintenance of EHR. This duty is performed daily.
  3. Maintains supply and medication inventory at NACASA exam sites. This duty is performed daily.
  4. Provides medical forensic exams to victims of domestic violence strangulation. This duty is performed daily.
  5. Attends monthly and quarterly meetings representing the NACASA program and providing timely updates and training to community stakeholders. This duty is performed weekly.
  6. Provides presentations to community regarding NACASA program and services available. This duty is performed daily.
  7. Maintains membership with International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) and keep up on current IAFN best practices. This duty is performed daily.
  8. Completes IAFN didactic within 6 months of hire and clinical training within 9 months of hire. Obtains 30 contact hours of continuing education every two years. This duty is performed daily.
  9. Communicates and interacts with various systems involved with NACASA program including, but not limited to clinical leadership, law enforcement, prosecutors, advocates, crime labs, and hospitals. This duty is performed daily.
  10. Completes billing for NACASA Forensic Exams and reimbursement for FNE training and travel. This duty is performed daily.
  11. Participates in 12/7, 365 on-call rotation. This duty is performed daily.
  12. Attends relevant meetings and trainings. This duty is performed daily.
  13. Other duties as assigned: Regular and predictable clinical attendance. Continuous learning in both personal and professional development. Consistent review, comprehension, and reply of company email and related correspondence. This duty is performed weekly.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

SANE-A certified, or experience preferred

Completion of IAFN online didactic within 6 months of hire, and clinical training within 9 months of hire

Current R.N. licensed in the State of Arizona

Working knowledge of all OSHA safety and health standards relevant to the position and job duties

Four years of prior nursing experience preferredPrior experience with sexual assault and domestic violence victims

Experience in management and/or independent practice

Demonstrated competence in physical assessment, including speculum exams

Cultural sensitivity to local populations

Demonstrated leadership ability

Excellent written, interpersonal and oral communicati n skills

Integrity and empathy

Independently mobile (must have access to reliable transportation in order to meet the needs of the program)

Exhibits good judgment; ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations
