Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

With the mentoring of experienced Project and/or Development Hardware Engineers, the Project Hardware Engineer will:

  • Simulate an overall Power Electronics system for Industrial application such as Marine Propulsion, Oil and Gas, Metals rolling mills, and Power generation applications

  • Specify electrical components (Cables, Filters, Inductors, Capacitors, Transformers, Converters …) of the overall electrical power plant

  • Write project artifacts such as Hardware and commissioning instructions

  • Customize Voltage Source Inverter (IGBT or Sic) and Thyristor converter (Rectifier LCI)

  • Support the Drive Commissioning

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering

  • Ability and willingness to travel when needed to resolve site issues up to 20% of the time

Desired Characteristics

  • Familiar with Matlab/PLECS and C coding with Industrial Informatics and real time systems

  • Autonomous, curious with the ability to understand new concepts, coach other engineers, and integrate into a team

  • Major Courses on Power Electronics Converters (MMC, multilevel VSI, LCI, DC drives or Cycloconverter), Variable Speed application, STATCOM, or active filtering
