Waste Connections Heavy Equipment Operator in Fife, Washington
Murrey’s Disposal, a Waste Connections Company, has an immediate opening for an Equipment Operator at our Transfer Station in Fife, WA.
In this hands-on role, you’ll operate a variety of equipment to help keep the transfer station running smoothly. You’ll play a key part in moving waste and supporting daily operations, all while working outdoors in a fast-paced environment. Pay and Schedule:
Monday through Friday, with workdays starting between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM, and shifts typically lasting 9 to 11 hours. Applicants must be willing to work overtime as needed
Starting pays $25.00 – $26.00 per hour
Responsibilities:
Safely operate a Grizzly excavator, skid steer, yard goat for hosteling trailers, and forklift
Assist in unloading and loading materials
Perform regular equipment inspections to ensure safe operation and maintenance
Manage traffic flow, directing vehicles in a safe and orderly manner
Perform general site maintenance, including cleaning up debris, ensuring the area is safe and organized
Maintain and repair minor equipment issues as needed
Monitor the transfer station area for potential hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations
Coordinate with team members to prioritize tasks and support daily operations
Keep accurate records of equipment usage, site conditions, and any incidents or issues
Provide excellent customer service when interacting with truck drivers and other staff
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Prior heavy equipment experience
Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds unassisted
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
A strong commitment to safety and attention to detail
Good communication skills and the ability to work with a team
Must be able to communicate in English for safety purposes; Spanish-speaking skills are a plus
Must be able to work in environments with dust, loud noises, odors, and other conditions commonly found at a transfer station
