Position Description

Position Title: HR Intern

Location: Fenton, MI

Job Category: NIC Non Union

Salary Interval: Intern Hourly

As an HR Intern, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Human Resources team by actively participating in key HR functions. This internship provides a dynamic learning opportunity to gain hands-on experience in recruitment, onboarding, training and development, and various HR processes. You will have a direct impact on the organization by fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring compliance with HR policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·      Assist with new hire onboarding process, assisting with paperwork and documentation

·      Preview and filter applicants in Indeed, Handshake, LinkedIn, and careers page

·      Assist with posting new positions on job boards

·      Interview candidates for trades positions

·      Assist with ordering welcome baskets and making welcome bags for new hires

·      Research giveaway items for career fairs

·      Update training materials and documentation

·      Assist with tracking employee training progress

·      Assist with making updates to the employee handbook

·      Organize and maintain employee files

·      Assist with updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions

·      Assist in preparing HR reports, gathering and analyzing HR data

·      Contribute to HR-related newsletter content

·      Assist in maintaining the company intranet

·      Handle general HR administrative duties

·      Manage HR-related email correspondence

·      Assist with employee recognition programs

·      Maintain employee benefits programs such as initial enrollment, changes & COBRA

·      Track and manage employee paid time off and FMLA

·      Establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff and employees

Required Qualifications

·      Pursuing a degree in Human Resources or related field

·      Relevant coursework in HR, organizational behavior, or personnel management

·      Strong verbal and written communication skills

·      Ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels

·      Ability to work well in a team environment

·      Excellent organizational skills

·      Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy

·      Ability to think critically and offer
