Job Description

Join Olsson's Transmission and Distribution (Power Delivery) team and help shape the future of energy systems. As a Design Technician, you'll play a key role in designing high-powered substations using MicroStation, Revit, and AutoCAD software, contributing to the infrastructure that powers our communities. From concept to completion, you’ll collaborate with a talented team of engineers to create impactful, sustainable solutions that meet future energy demands. Responsibilities:

• Perform intermediate- to advanced-level substation design while working under minimal direction and supervision.

• Collaborate with engineers and technical leadership to develop and execute design approaches that meet project specifications and client requirements.

• Use MicroStation, Revit, or AutoCAD software to create accurate and detailed design drawings for utility transmission and substation projects.

• Run design calculations, update drawings, determine material needs, and review project specifications.

• Provide mentorship and training to less experienced technicians, fostering a collaborative team environment.

• Attend client meetings to discuss project needs and design solutions.

Qualifications

You bring to the team:

• Strong communication skills

• Ability to contribute and work well on a team

• Associate degree in a related field preferred.

• Minimum of six years of experience with MicroStation or similar software.

• Proven ability to work independently on non-routine drafting and design tasks.

• Experience working in substation or utility transmission projects is preferred.
