Supervise and responsibly direct employees engaged in transportation activities, and perform all duties of a Fleet Technician A. The following list sets forth the principal duties required for the job. This list is not intended to limit assignment of work or the degree of supervision under all operating conditions. Employee may perform miscellaneous, related, and incidental work in addition to that specifically outlined below.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise and direct employees engaged in maintenance and repair of all types of transportation and associated equipment under the scope of the garage.

  • Perform all duties of a Fleet Technician A.

  • Analyze manpower requirements and assign employees to achieve the most efficient results.

  • Supervise and direct the installation of equipment on new vehicles for service; evaluate components and direct rebuilding or replacement.

  • Recommend maintenance changes to increase efficiency and reduce cost of operation of the

  • transportation fleet and associated equipment.

  • Advise immediate supervisor of equipment, which indicates abuse or neglect.

  • Report chronic maintenance problems and equipment failures and recommend enhanced

  • maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.

  • Act as point of contact for customers in geographic area of responsibility and create and maintain effective working relationships with customers.

  • Supervise preventive maintenance inspections and repairs of transportation and associated

  • equipment used in the garage.

  • Carry out, within the assigned area of responsibility, the Company's Equal Opportunity

  • Operate Company vehicles and associated equipment and perform duties incidental to the

  • operation of such equipment.

  • report unsafe conditions and practices.

  • Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Maintain records and submit reports as required.

  • Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in the training of other employees.

  • Perform similar or less skilled work.

  • Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.

  • Assist employees of equal or higher classification.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High school graduate or equivalent education and/or experience. Must have performed all the duties of and have all the qualifications of Fleet Technician A or the equivalent and must qualify through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company. Demonstrated ability to coordinate the work of employees and to receive, interpret and transmit orders; ability to give instruction in a manner, which obtains effective work results. Thorough working knowledge of the operation of internal combustion engines, ignition systems, and electrical systems of automotive equipment. Ability to diagnose and remedy the more complex cases of electrical and mechanical troubles in automotive equipment. Must have successfully completed all of the learning guides associated with the Training Utility Fleet Technicians program.

CERTIFICATIONS - Conduct Operator Training F.I.M's Qualified AEP Institute Training Accident Investigation Training Computer Training Instructor Training Supervisory Training Advanced Training in Automotive Electronics Advanced Fabrication Training

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

SPECIALIZED SKILLS - Alternate Fuel Vehicles Maintenance Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Must possess all vehicle operation requirements as required by federal and/or state law. Must have thorough knowledge of the efficient and safe operation of various types of automotive equipment. Must be physically able to perform the duties required of this position. Must be thoroughly familiar and comply with the Company rules and regulations governing safety and other matters. Must have a good working knowledge and exhibit competency of computer systems utilized by the Fleet Services organization.
