Responsibilities and Expectations: The Winder is responsible for constructing and assembling coils according to winding specifications and engineering drawings. This role involves making brazed connections, fabricating crossovers, installing cooling ducts, and handling wire leads using specialized tools and machinery. The Winder plays a crucial role in ensuring that coils used in distribution transformers are constructed to precise standards and are safely and correctly handled throughout the manufacturing process. Construct coils based on winding specifications and engineering drawings Make brazed connections, fabricate crossovers, and install cooling ducts as required Burn leads using an oxygen/acetylene torch Operate wire-coil machines to wind wire coils used in distribution transformers Set up and dismantle coil setups, including mandrels, wire, derailleurs, and other necessary equipment Select and load materials such as workpieces, objects, and machine parts onto coiling equipment Cut, strip, and bend wire leads at the ends of coils using pliers and wire scrapers Attach, alter, and trim materials such as wire, insulation, and coils using hand tools Stop machines to remove completed components using hand tools Operate a forklift to move coils or materials Record cylinders, wire, and coil check sheets as required to ensure accurate tracking and quality control Maintain detailed records of materials used, processes followed, and any issues encountered Keep the work area safe, neat, and clean at all times Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Qualifications and Competencies: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or training in electrical or mechanical fields preferred Experience in coil winding or transformer manufacturing is highly desirable Proficiency in operating wire-coil machines and other relevant equipment Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work Experience with brazing, burning leads, and using an oxygen/acetylene torch.
