Job Description
Bosch's Electrified Motion division enables our customers and partners to successfully drive electrified mobility – from passenger cars to heavy trucks – worldwide. We anticipate market trends in a fast-changing environment, offering high quality, competitive solutions with the right technology, ensuring cost efficiency and financial stability.
The design of electric motors for passenger cars and commercial vehicles is becoming essential to mobility globally as well as in the US. We are looking for someone to join and integrate into a global team centered on working with established and start-up vehicle manufacturers. This position will focus on the design and analysis of thermal performance and design for traction drives going from concept to mass production. Our team works directly with vehicle manufacturers to meet the needs for next generation electric powertrains for both hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
Lead technical development around thermal behavior within electrical machine development
Conduct analysis of customer requirements within acquisition and project phase and identify feasibility together with mechanical and electromagnetic design team
Define test plans and conduct evaluations of simulation and testing data to assess degree of compliance to requirements as well as define possible solutions to alleviate deviations
Participate in customer meetings and internal development activities in a cross-domain capacity
Communicate with internal and external test bench providers to conduct experiments and evaluate required efforts and time
Organize internal trainings and seminars to increase awareness of the organization in existing and future EM thermal management concepts
Ability to travel internationally for trainings and development alignment within global engineering team (2-3x per year international, 2-3x per year domestic)
Qualifications
Basic:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field
3 or more years of 1D thermal modelling of electrical machines
3 or more years of CFD analysis of electrical machines
Experince with commercial CFD and thermal analysis tools: Fluent,Star CCM etc., AMESIM, MotorCAD
3 or more years of automotive component development experiences for production projects
Desired:
Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field
Experienced in working as part of a global team with team members located in various locations
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proactive and pragmatic to drive solutions for customer satisfaction
